　こヤギ が やね に のぼって あそんで いると、した を オオカミ が とおる のが みえました。
　When playing on the roof, a kid goat saw a wolf passing by under the roof.

　こヤギ は オオカミ に むかって、
　The kid goat started to make fun of the wolf

　しっている かぎり の わるい ことば を つかって バカ に したり、からかったり しはじめました。
　by every possible nasty word he could ever think of.

　オオカミ は へいき な かお で、
　The wolf kept a straight face, and said to the kid goat,

「あわれな ちびっこ ヤギくん、
”Oh, poor little kid goat!

　わたし を バカ に する のは、ちびっこ ヤギ の おまえ では なくて、おまえさん が いま いる ばしょ なんだよ」
　What's making fun of me is not you, a kid goat, but the place you're playing at.”



　この おはなし は、
　This story tell us that

　よわい もの でも あんしん できる ばしょ に いる とき や、いま なら だいじょうぶ だと いう とき には、
　even the weak, when they are in a safe place or think they will be alright after all,

　つよい もの に おもいきって はむかう こと が ある と いう こと を かたっています。
　might courageously oppose the strong every once in a while.

　そして あたま の よい つよい もの は、そんな ひきょうもの を あいて には しません。
　On the other hand, the wise and strong would dismiss such cowards.
