　あるとき、ふゆ が はる を バカ に して さんざん ののしりました。
　One day, Winter criticized Spring.

「あんた が すがた を あらわす と、にんげん は みんな おちつかなく なってしまう。
“When you show yourself, humans starts to become restless.

　のはら や もり へ はな を つみ に でかけて、つんだ ユリ や バラ を くるくる まわして みたり、かみ に さしたり する ひと も いるし、
　They go out to the fields and the forest to pick flowers, and twirl the lilies and roses or wear them on their hair.

　ふね を こぎだして、うみ を こえて かいがい まで いく ひと も いるし、
　Some pull out to the sea and even go to foreign countries.

　みんな うかれて、かぜ や あめ の こと など かんがえようとも しない ありさまだ。
　Everyone is carried away, and would not think about the wind or the rain.

　それに ひきかえ、わたし は おそろしい おうさま みたいな ものよ。
　Unlike you, I am like a fearful King.

　わたし は にんげん が そら ばかり みない で、ちゃんと じぶん の あしもと の じめん を みる よう に してやる。
　I will not let humans see the sky, but let them watch the ground and their every step.

　わたし は みんな を こわがらせ、ふるえ させるのよ。
　I am going to make them tremble with fear.

　そとに でる のを あきらめて、いちにちじゅう、いえ に とじこもって いる よう に させて やるのよ」
　People will give up going out, and will stay inside the house all day”

　ふゆ が いばって いると、はる は、
　Spring then said to the arrogant winter,

「だから、にんげん は あなた が いなくなる と ホッ と して、おおよろこび するの ですよ」
“That is why humans are happy when you go away.”



　この ように、ひと に きらわれている のが じぶん で わからない ひと は おおぜい います。
　There are many people who doesn’t realize how much they are hated by others.
