       北風と太陽が、どちらが強いかで言い争っていました。The North Wind and the Sun have argued which is  stronger.

       議論ばかりしていても決まらないので、それでは力試しをして旅人の着物を脱がせた方が勝ちと決めようという事になりました。Since they could not resolve it by only argument, They came to a conclusion to do a competition and  decided that the stronger is who can remove tourist’s cloths. The North Wind tried first.

       北風は思いきり強く、The North Wind strongly blew the tourist. Whizz!

       旅人は震えあがって、着物をしっかり押さえました。The tourist shivered and tightly held his cloths. Then the North Wind blew the tourist much stronger.

      「ビュビューッ!」と、吹きつけました。Whizz whizz! Then the tourist said “Wow, it is cold. I cannot stand it. I need to be  warmer.”

      と、今まで着ていた着物の上に、もう1枚重ねて着てしまいました。and he put one more cloths on his wear. The North Wind was disappointed it, and said to the  Sun.

      「きみにまかせるよ」
        と、太陽に言いました。“That is your turn”

       太陽はまず始めに、ポカポカと暖かく照らしました。The Sun warmly shone on him at first.

       そして、旅人がさっき1枚よけいに着た上着を脱ぐのを見ると、And when the Sun found the tourist took off his extra  jacket just before he had put on,

       今度はもっと暑い強い日差しを送りました。the Sun strongly blazed down on him.

       ジリジリと照りつける暑さに、By blazing heat,

       旅人はたまらなくなって着物を全部脱ぎ捨てると、近くの川へ水浴びに行きました。the tourist could not stand anymore and took off  all his cloths, and went to a nearby river for bathing.

       人に何かをしてもらうには、北風の様に無理やりではうまくいきません。In order to ask someone to do,  you should not force him like the North Wind did. Considering a man’s thought like the Sun did, the man would naturally act as you want him to do.
